FAQ's

Q: Does a high grade point average and SAT score guarantee placement in highly selective colleges?

A: No. In this highly competitive climate, top institutions are looking for students who distinguish themselves from other academically qualified applicants.

Q: Is it better to take classes for easy A's in order to attain a higher grade point average?

A: Definitely not! Colleges are looking for students who challenge themselves academically. A "B" in an honors, AP or IB course is preferable to an easy "A".

Q: Does it matter when you start to plan for college?

A :Absolutely. If you are really serious about planning for your college application , it is best to start preparing by the 9th grade in order to map out the best stategy for your high school years.   While it is optimal to begin your planning early, it is always advantageous to maximize your results with the expertise of an independent consultant regardless of your grade level.

Q:Do high grades correlate with high SAT scores?

A: Not neccessarily. Good grades do not guarantee that you are skilled at standardized test taking. That is why so many students practice with an SAT/ACT preparation course in order to maximize their results.

Q. Should I get involved in as many activities and organizations as possible to show that I am well rounded?

A. Colleges want well rounded students, but they also want students who show passion and commitment.  It is preferable to show a serious focus in a given area rather than just a multitude of activities.
